Colorado trout fishing with OutWest Guides Fly fishing in Colorado is an adventure you’ll always remember. OutWest Guides is located among some of the best fishing in Colorado, and the views on our streams are simply unforgettable. Our fly-fishing instructors put clients onto a wide variety of trout species, including rainbow trout, German brown trout, cutthroat trout, and brook trout.

Fly fishing instruction and tips on fly-fishing OutWest Guides is known for top-quality professional guides who specialize in giving first-class instruction for beginning fly-fishers. Have you always wanted to learn to fly-fish? You’ve come to the right place. Our guides start from the ground up, teaching you solid fundamentals so that you’ll have success fishing on your own. Gary Hubbell's book, "Shadowcasting: An Introduction to the Art of Flyfishing", is a great introduction to the sport. From Clinetop Press,$21. link:www.clinetop.com. trout fishing in Colorado

Wade, float, and overnight trips At OutWest Guides, your fishing options are wide open, from half-day and full-day wade fishing trips (recommended for beginners) to float fishing trips on the Roaring Fork and Colorado rivers. Or you can book an overnight pack trip into the mountains for high-country lake and small stream fishing.

For beginning fly-fishers, we recommend wade trips. You’ll learn dry fly fishing and nymph fishing, the basic fly-fishing knots, hooking and playing a trout, the catch and release ethic, and basic entomology—how to choose a fly to match the hatch.

Our float trips, recommended for more advanced anglers, are a great way to see the Roaring Fork and Colorado rivers, as well as hook into some big, strong trout!

The overnight high-mountain lake and stream trips are either horseback or hiking trips to a fully set-up wilderness camp.

trout fishing in ColoradoThe Colorado Slam: Brown, Brookie, Rainbow, Cutthroat Trout The Crystal River that flows through our ranch in Marble offers exciting fishing. Few rivers can offer the opportunity to catch all four major trout species in one day of fishing. We call it the “Colorado Slam”—netting a brook trout, German brown trout, rainbow trout, and cutthroat trout all in the same day on a fly rod. Several of our clients have done it, and many more have had a great time trying!

Private water We lease over a mile of private access on the Crystal River, and have access to several more miles of private river. Where other stretches of public water may get fished literally hundreds of times a year, our waters see very little pressure. Our fish are wild and stout. We seek out private water whenever possible for your fishing experience.
