Gary,

Jesse and I had a fabulous time fishing with you.  Jesse has invested in getting himself set up with gear and goes up any chance he gets.  I have also been several times since our trip with you (borrowing spare gear from my dad) and have even caught and landed a fish on my very own.  More of a legendary feat than you can imagine, since I was previously convinced that I was cursed and could not catch fish as a karhmic condition.  Thanks again and expect to see my dad up there within the next year!

Just wanted to say another quick "thank-you". It was an experience that we will never forget and hope to do next year. (Now that we can walk again!) Here are some pictures. We are in the process of making a couple of discs that we will send to you as soon as they are completed. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Sincerely,

Hi,

My daughter and I are still talking about the two-hour ride we went on with you last summer.  It was without a doubt one of the best experiences we have had.  The horses were the best and so was the company.  As to the surroundings………. words fail me.  I have never been anywhere that I felt was so beautiful or that I felt so connected to.  The only problem was that it was that our time was way too short. We decided we had to get back there this year to spend some real time in Marble.  We love to camp and we are planning a major camping trip this summer into Colorado.  We hope to see you for several much longer rides or perhaps a pack trip this summer.  We are up for anything that involves you and your horses.  Her 13th birthday is July 7th and I would really like it to be special.  I can’t think of any place more special than Marble.

Thanks,

Elaine Petrosino

Joe Hope, Artist Services Coordinator for Janus Jazz Aspen and the HBO Comedy Festival, enjoys the view from the top of Raspberry Ridge with Anthracite Basin in the background. It’s one of our most challenging rides, and the view will stay with you forever! (By the way, that’s Silver, our Tennessee Walker and one of our best mountain horses).Dear Gary,

I just wanted to thank you for the most amazing ride we had with you. My friends will never forget your hospitality and professionalism. The horses, lunch, scenery, and weather were a perfect 10!!! Thanks once again for taking us out.

Not your average bunch of tired old dude horses, huh? We keep telling you how nice our horses are. They’re feeling this good after a whole season of hard work! Want a gallery print of this image? Email us.

"Gary Hubbell's OutWest Guides offer the best horseback riding experience in the area. We live an hour away, and there are many other horseback riding businesses in the area, but none of them offer the reputation, staff, knowledge and seclusion as OutWest Guides. The views from the Elk Mountain Range are incredible and Gary's horses are well-trained, magnificent animals. It was well worth the drive!!"

“My wife and I had a fabulous adventure-filled honeymoon thanks to Gary and the crew at OutWest Guides. Their thoroughness, attention to detail, and experience kept us feeling safe and secure on the edge of our excitement. This was truly one of our all-time favorite moments.”  Eric Hungate, Austin, Texas

Our horse meadow on a gorgeous October morning."As the youth program coordinator for the City of Glenwood Springs Parks & Recreation Department I would like to commend Gary Hubbell and his wranglers from OutWest Guides. The OutWest Guides Company provided the participants in our Outdoor Adventure Camp with a safe, educational and fun horseback riding experience.  Gary spent ample time providing information on the basics of horsemanship and geared the discussion to the level of comprehension of our
participants, which ranged in age from 7 to 14 years old.  This informational discussion enhanced the children's experience during the ride and was a valuable addition to the experience.  Gary's horses were top notch and were cycled through to enable the 72 participants in our Outdoor Adventure Camp to have a fresh and happy horse to ride."

Thanks, Gary.

My family and I so much enjoyed the two hour ride we took with you last Thursday at 4 p.m. that I have e-mailed the Redstone Inn recommending you.  I sent the Redstone Inn this note:

"Last week my family and I spent 3 nights at the Redstone Inn.  I just want to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay there.  It is a splendid place and I've been telling all my friends about it.

One of the highlights of our trip was taking a 2-hour horseback ride in the mountains.  We used "OutWest Guides" just outside of Marble.  They are a well run outfit, very professional, courteous, and their horses are in excellent shape.  I thought you could recommend them to your other guests.  I didn't see
any of their flyers in your lobby, however. We found them just by chance.

Thanks again for giving us a great trip.  We hope to return some day."

Maybe you could drop off some of your brochures for their lobby?  Thanks again for the great ride.

Sincerely,
Elizabeth Kay

Lyle Bates and Tommy Thames fishing their way up the North Fork of the Crystal into our Love’s Cabin camp. "Gary Hubbell's OutWest Guides not only know the most productive and consistent fisheries, they have a way of maximizing the outdoor experience. The guides' ambience and personal knowledge make the fishing trip a pleasure for the novice and veteran."

Dear Gary,

Our head wrangler, Scott Kirchner, leads a string of packhorses into Big Kline Creek to set up our fall hunting camps. Chair Mountain is in the back-ground. This is an awesome summer or fall day ride!We apologize for the delay in sending to you our heartfelt thanks for what proved to be the highlight of our trip out to Colorado- the day ride with "OutWest Guides".  We loved every minute of that day-long ride up toward the Maroon Bells- you all were terrific in selecting the right horses and saddles for each of us, letting us know what you expected from us re safety and the "tricky' parts of the paths, explaining to us about what we were seeing, and just having fun and enjoying the beautiful scenery above Marble, CO. Even with us being "city slickers" and having a long hard ride up to 13,000 ft. we felt invigorated and not very sore the next day.

We'd love to serve as a reference if you ever need it- which I doubt you will. It truly was a magnificent ride on a wonderful day.

Our thanks again and our best to "Out West Guides".

Our horses live on God’s finest horse pasture on the Darien Ranch in Marble.OutWest Guides,

I just wanted to thank all of you, especially our guide, for one of the most enjoyable, and most beautiful trail rides I have been on. It definitely exceeded my expectations. Marble is such a beautiful place and something about seeing it all on horseback really does make it a little slice of Heaven. I didn't really get the chance to thank our wrangler, he is a really great guy. The views were amazing but he made the trip very enjoyable. So THANK YOU! I had such a wonderful time and I can't wait to come back and experience it again.
Sincerely,

Hello,

Remember me, the one with all the questions??

Well, we just got back home and I wanted to write to thank you for such a wonderful time on our 2 hour trail ride a week ago Sat.
All your workers there are so friendly.  Our guide was a very nice young man and showed us a wonderful time.  Your horses were excellent, they were so responsive, very light with their cues, VERY well behaved.  They took very good care of us on the trails.

So a huge THANK YOU for such a great time and we will sure recommend you.

To Whom it may Concern:
The trip I took this summer of 2004 with OutWest Guides into the wilderness above Crystal with two lady friends and three girls was an ideal experience. It was highlighted by the delight of riding Missouri Trotters. Smooth, swift and easy, they left us with no soreness after three days of riding.

We had misty rainy weather going in but the pre-set up tents gave us a place to dry out and settle in on arrival. Meals were good, hearty and tasty. The fire was warm even in the drizzle while we watched elk graze high above us on the mountain rim. The horses and mules entertained us with their antics and the weather slowly came around. We hiked the
steam bed and skinny dipped in the shallows when the sun came out. Riding up to the pass gave us views and wild flowers galore. All of us filled our senses and our souls with the grandeur of the Rockies when the sun smiles and the breezes lift the spirit. Everyone should be so lucky as to have such a moment when God holds you in the palm of His
hand.

SUMMER HORSEBACK RIDES
This was a wonderful horseback riding trip! Beautiful views combined with great horses added up to a great time. Our two-hour riding trip was filled with horsemanship tips, variety and relaxation. It was hard to think of anything that wasn't positive about this trip …I highly recommend this outfitter, GARY HUBBELL!!! --

SUMMER HORSEBACK RIDES
Splendid guide and pristine location! Everything about the horseback riding trip exceeded our expectations. The outfitters have access to a pristine wilderness area, lush with lakes and wildflowers. The guide riveted us with his extensive knowledge of the land's resources -- geology, botany and wildlife -- and his eloquence. He worked well with both beginning and experienced riders, allowing both groups to trot and canter as appropriate. We traveled from Aspen, CO (about an hour), and it was absolutely worth the trip!
Pros: pristine location, highest-caliber guide, excellent stock
Cons: distance -- worth it! --
