“AUSTIN”

Bay draft cross gelding (Clydesdale stallion, Belgian-Quarter Horse mare)

Foaled 5/14/2002

14.3 hands

Trail horse, pleasure horse, mountain horse $3,500

Austin is a nice pleasure horse. He has a lovely elongated gait that makes for a beautiful trot and canter. It feels like you’re floating on air. He’s a draft cross gelding who is perfectly sized for pleasure and trail riding.
Austin has a stout build with big feathered feet, and lots of bone in his structure, yet he’s only 14.3 hands, so a shorter, stouter rider who needs a stout horse will be able to mount and dismount easily. He has good withers and holds a saddle well.

When we first got Austin, he was very shy and a little spooky. It took us several weeks to gain his trust. Doris took him on as her special project, and she did a great job of getting him to relax and putting him under saddle. Now he’s a big puppy dog, following us around in the pasture and wanting to be petted. He’s decided that he really likes people. Then we gave him to our wranglers and he did a great job through the fall and the hunting seasons, carrying Jeff at 265 pounds and Brian at 220 pounds.

He really hasn’t been ridden by anyone other than our staff, so we can’t say he’s “dude ready”, but this horse is doing great with better riders, and we think he’s ready for beginning to intermediate riders. Of course, he crosses water, stands tied, loads in a trailer, and stands still for the horseshoer. He’s 100% sound.

This horse has a lot of heart and is still young, so you’ll get lots of years of enjoyment from Austin.
