Fallon is a 14.1 hand cute bay Arabian gelding with a nice conformation and a mile-eating pace. He had been used for endurance riding before we got him, but his owner was having trouble handling him. It seems she didn’t know who was boss—her or Fallon. After a couple of serious discussions, we educated Fallon as to the proper horse/rider relationship, and he smoothed right out. In fact, one of our wranglers, Dwight Cox, took a liking to Fallon and rode him most of the summer.
Dwight took him on five different four-day pack trips, as well as a whole bunch of summer half-day rides. He had several hundred miles of riding through the Maroon Bells/Snowmass Wilderness, and crossed the Crystal River twice a day this summer and fall. By the time the summer was over, Fallon had been thoroughly indoctrinated in our program—crossing water, jumping logs, grazing hobbled in a high-country meadow, standing overnight tied to a highline. He was used as a packhorse and has been around freshly killed game with no issues.
He’s ready for a new owner. We would suggest an intermediate or better rider, though the right beginner might really relate to him. Dwight is 5’8” and 145 pounds and had a lot of gear on his saddle, and I rode him several days (170 pounds) with no trouble. He’s easy for a smaller rider to mount and dismount, and he’ll carry riders up to 170 pounds with no difficulties. He’ll make a super trail or pleasure horse, and he has great potential as an endurance horse. Fallon is very sure-footed and has a comfortable gait. Though he has two white feet, his shoes stay on and his feet are in excellent condition. He neck reins nicely, is easy to catch, and jumps right in a trailer. Fallon is coming into his prime years and will give you many years of pleasurable riding.
