This gorgeous gaited buckskin Missouri foxtrotter mare is so beautiful that she has modeled for the Victoria’s Secret catalogue. No joke! She’s there in the Holiday 2005 issue with the skinny little Brazilian supermodel who is modeling blue jeans. Registered with the Missouri Foxtrotter Association, Mona has excellent bloodlines. Her sire is Sugarfoot’s Show-Me and her dam is Hornet’s Penny M. IV.
Mona is a lovely horse. When we first got her, Mona hadn’t been ridden in several years, so she had a little trouble getting motivated. However, motivate her we did, and this summer she went on several overnight pack trips, blue grouse hunts, a bunch of summer trail rides, and spent a week elk hunting. Mona has done it all in the mountains, even working as a packhorse, and nothing surprises her.
Mona is nicely gaited and is a smooth-riding trail horse. She’s easy to catch and has nice ground manners, easy to saddle, and she’s a fun, fast-walking trail horse. Mona has good withers and fits a saddle well, and she is nicely gaited and racks right along. She’ll carry people up to 200-220 pounds and can be ridden by beginning to intermediate riders. If she gets your number and you decide you’re not the master of the horse, you won’t get along with Mona. If you have some command presence and know how to ride a little, you’ll love her.
Mona has a good conformation, is very straight, and has an absolutely beautiful head. She’ll make a terrific broodmare and should produce color, but she’ll make a great trail horse as well. She’s guaranteed 100% sound.
