NICO
Do you want to win a lot of ribbons in Pony Club? Do you want to ride in the mountains? Do you want a tough, sound, gorgeous horse that can win ribbons and take you in the high country? This is your horse. We’ll be training Nico for a serious shot at pony club riding. He’s a gorgeous little liver chestnut Morgan gelding, foaled in 2001. His papered name is “Moonfall Cityslicker”, registration number 159601, sired by Lone Pine Citylights and the dam is LW Desert Saranade.

Nico stands 14 hands and ½ inch (14.0 ½) and is a chocolate color. He has no markings. This is a beautiful little horse with delicate features. He’s not overly muscled and thick like a lot of Morgans. He’s got a lovely arched neck, a trim muzzle, a flat back, and trim legs with small hooves.
This is a high-powered little horse. Nico has a very light touch and responds to gentle, light cues. He’s very athletic and quick on his feet. Nico has a lovely flat-kneed gait and can really move. However, this doesn’t mean he’s spooky. Nico is gentle and easy to catch, and he’s been in the mountains. On Ride #5, I took him out of the round pen, started him across the Crystal River, rode him across the river, through the meadow, stopped, dismounted. opened the gate, closed the gate, mounted again, and took him through the sagebrush. We dodged sagebrush for half a mile, then climbed up into the open, then entered the aspen forest. We took the trails through the aspens, climbing up onto the top of the knob, then descended through the aspens. Once we were back on the big meadow, I loped him across the meadow and back. I then pointed him into the river, which he crossed, and then back into the stables. Ride #5, ever. Lifetime. Alone.
Nico could go in a lot of directions, but I see his ultimate potential as a pony club large pony. He would make an awesome trail horse for a smaller lady, but I think he’d make a great English horse. He will do well in both jumping and flat work classes. Lindsay Alvarez will begin training him this spring, and when Lindsay is on his back, watch out! She’ll take ribbons away from everybody else.
Though Nico is only green broke and needs a lot more training, we can see loads of potential in him. If you have a daughter who is a talented rider and can handle a sensitive horse, she’ll win on Nico. He’s for sale as a raw prospect right now for our asking price. After he’s been trained, he’ll cost you 6 to 10 times the money.
