“SHERMAN”
Bay draft cross gelding (Percheron x Thoroughbred)
Foaled 2001
16 hands
Fox-hunting English hunter-jumper, warmblood, trail horse, pleasure horse, husband safe mountain horse $7,500
This is our number one best horse, and if you want him, you’d better get out your wallet. Sherman is a terrific all-around great horse who is still quite young, but has a great deal of mountain and trail experience.
Sherman is a perfect size for someone who wants a big, stout horse who still is athletic and handy. He stands right at 16 hands and weighs about 1,350 pounds. He takes a size 2 shoe all the way around. He’s a bay with a very long mane and forelock, and he’s beyond gorgeous.
\We’ve used Sherman for hundreds of day rides and a bunch of overnight pack trips and elk hunts. He can carry a 240-pound man all day long, yet he’s light enough that anyone will enjoy riding him. And he’s only 5 years old as I write this.
We haven’t tried him over jumps—maybe we will this winter—but I have no doubt that he’ll make a great hunter-jumper or dressage English horse. You can rest assured that this is a no-buck, bomb-proof, husband safe horse that can do it all. He’s quiet, gentle, easy to catch, load, and shoe, and it goes without saying that he is completely reliable in the mountains and on the trail.
Of course, he’s guaranteed 100% sound.
